Recently, on a trip to Saarbrücken to explore a local pub and tea room, I happily stumbled upon a sweet Fruchteria. Dumont Fruchteria is a darling store filled to the brim with every variety of seasonal chutneys, relishes, jellies, beverages, oils and seasonings.
Great Place to Find Special Gifts
If you’re like me and constantly on the lookout for goodies to send home, hostess gifts and treats for out of town visitors, this is the place to shop. Not only can you find individual gourmet goods, you can also buy pre-assembled gift baskets and packages that take the guess work out of buying.
Unique Flavor Combinations
The best part of the store is the unique flavor combinations. Okay that’s the second best part. The actual best part is that you can try everything. I recommend the Guinness orange and the mango rosemary marmalade. They’re both flavors that are distinctive to Dumont and absolutely delicious. The shop owner, who makes all of the products herself, was more than happy to walk us through the flavorful treats signature to this family run company.
More Information
For those of us short on time, a selection of products can be ordered from the Fruchteria website. For English translation, type in “Fruchteria Saarbruecken” in Google Chrome. The store is open Tuesday-Friday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
