Shoes and socks off and off you go! In Bad Sobernheim, you can treat the soles of your feet to the pleasures of a BarfussPfad, which translates into “Bare Feet Path.”
You will have all the time in the world to give your feet the exercise and relaxation they need on this 3 ½ kilometer-long (2 miles) path. It’s a stimulating massage for your feet.
There are a ton of positive side effects associated with walking barefoot. Walking on different types of surfaces forces your feet to take on a natural position to support your weight. The Barfusspfad in Bad Sobernheim is a sole-ful adventure: you will walk on different surfaces and cross small streams and rivers, so it’s best to wear shorts and bring a towel. You can rent a locker for your belongings or carry a backpack along the path.
You begin the path by walking across smooth river stones followed by bark mulch. Expect to get a little dirty, with ankle or knee-deep in mud (depending on your height and weight) at one point, which is a lot of fun for kids and adults alike! Don’t worry, there is a foot washing station at the entrance/exit of the path so everyone will be clean before the drive home.
Plan about an hour and a half for your trek along the 3.5 km (2 miles) circular path. Open from May 1st to October 3rd from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed, but with good reason – we’re all barefoot after all!
Cost is €4.00 for adults and €2.50 for kids and teens. The Barfusspad in Bad Sobernheim is about 15 to 20 minutes from Bad Kreuznach and about an hour and a half from Kaiserslautern.
