Recently a friend gave me a recipe for Sangria using white wine. I have actually never had Sangria with white wine, so I decided to try it. It turned out so nice that I decided to share it with our readers.
Ingredients
1 Granny Smith apple
1 Braeburn apple
1 heaping cup fresh cranberries (I could only find these at Edeka.)
1 large sprig rosemary
1 Bottle Pinot Grigio
½ cup white grape juice
¼ cup sugar (more for garnish)
1 Can club soda
Directions
Chop the apples into small cubes and place them in a large pitcher. I prefer a glass pitcher because it makes a nice presentation when you can see all of the fruits floating in wine. Add the cup of cranberries, rosemary, the bottle of Pinot Grigio, white grape juice, club soda and the sugar.
I used a good but inexpensive Pinot Grigio. Good wine makes good Sangria. Crappy wine makes good sangria too; you just have to add a lot more. Place the pitcher in the refrigerator to chill. This will allow the sugar to fully dissolve and the rosemary will infuse your sangria.
I read about a garnish and it seemed appropriate here since it’s a “White Christmas Sangria”. I attempted to make the rosemary to look like it was covered in snow. To do this, simple place about 1/2 cup of granulated sugar in a shallow bowl.
Lightly wet the rosemary and then give it a good shake to remove any excess water. Then roll the sprigs in the sugar until they are coated as you please. Gorgeous, right?
Now…sit back, relax, and enjoy. You’re welcome!
