One of the favorite destinations for guests of the popular “Frankfurt on Foot Walking Tours” on Saturdays after their tour, is to head to the Flea Market, especially if it falls on the week when it takes place on the Main River, running along the Museum Mile.
The Flea Market in Frankfurt has been running for many a year. Every Saturday, folks would gather along the Main riverbank beginning at the Eisener Steg bridge and buy and sell to their hearts delight. A few years ago, it began switching locations every other week, it’s on the river bank one week, and located at the East Harbor the next. The Flea Market at the East Harbor (Ost hafen) is easy to get to, just take the #11 tram from the Römer to Lindley Strasse. This is about a 5 minute ride from the Römer. One is expected to bargain, and the later in the day it gets, the better the bargains get, as long as you don’t mind risking losing that special treasure you had your eye on. There are 2 levels at the river location and the one down by the river is mainly clothes. This becomes a mad house at the end of the market.
Hours are from 09:00-16:00 at both locations.

There are other less regular flea markets held in Frankfurt too, most notably at the Bornheim Saalbau, the Eisporthalle parking lot, Jahrhunderthalle and at various churches and kindergartens. There are often Antique or Trödel markets combined with these and one of my favorite places to buy German souvenirs. People don’t have yard sales or garage sales, so this is the best way to find all kinds of stuff.
For an indoor flea market that is open every day except Sundays, located on Sandweg in Bornheim: Leipold Markt
In the downtown area there is another flea market, located on Fahrgasse 86 (right around the corner from the Konstablerwache) & also at Grosse Friedberger Str. 27:
raus-aus-dem-keller flea market
Here’s a tip – German name for Flea Market is “Floh Markt”.
