Warm yourself up with a delicious deep dish apple cobbler. It goes great with vanilla ice cream and a dash of brown sugar!
Ingredients:
- 12 medium-sized Granny Smith or other cooking apples
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon cold butter
- 1 teaspoon powdered cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
- 1 single 8 or 9 inch single unbaked pie crust
Directions:
Wash, peel core and slice the apples into 1/4 inch slices.
Place apple slices, the brown sugar and the lemon juice in a baking dish. Dot the butter on the apples and then season them with the cinnamon and nutmeg.
Roll the pie crust dough out on a floured surface. Cut out a circle the size of the top of the baking dish.
Trim the scraps and place them in with the apples, sugar, lemon juice, and seasonings.
Place the crust on top of the apples, covering the top of the baking dish. Seal it to the top of the dish, and flute the edges by pinching them between your thumb and forefinger. Slash two or three steam vents in the crust with a sharp knife.
Bake for 30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
Serve hot and, if you like, with vanilla ice cream.
