If you’ll be hosting a Super Bowl party want to serve something a little more gourmet than chips ‘n dips, then here are several appetizers you can prepare in a short amount of time that are sure to impress.
Crab Salad in Cups
For this recipe, you can use a hand mixer or simply a wooden spoon to combine the ingredients and create a visually appealing presentation for this tasty appetizer. Mix chopped crap or imitation crab meat with mayonnaise or cream cheese, along with lemon juice, fresh parsley, garlic salt, a hint of cayenne pepper, and minced onions, garlic and peppers.
Let the salad sit in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes, and use an ice cream scoop to fill Romaine lettuce leaves or cooked pastry cups before topping with more parsley and/or fresh green onion before giving these treats to your guests.
Brussel Sprout and Bacon Skewers
For this appetizer, just arrange Brussel sprouts on a cookie sheet and cover them with olive oil, sea salt and black pepper. Roast the vegetables and bake or lightly fry your favorite bacon after seasoning the bacon with brown sugar and mustard powder.
Take the Brussel sprouts from the oven and wrap each vegetable in the seasoned bacon. Secure the appetizer with a wooden skewer. Lightly dust each appetizer with dried herbs like basil or parsley.
You can also make an easy gourmet dipping sauce with olive oil, butter, red pepper flakes and mustard to make these savory treats even more tasty.
Mini Fruit Custards
Purchase pre-made mini pie shells. In an electric mixer, combine eggs, shredded coconut, vanilla extract, rum extract, and condensed milk. After the filling has been thoroughly mixed, add finely chopped nuts and/or fruit to the custard mixture and fold it into the custard batter.
Pour the mixture into pie shells and bake until the filling has a spongy consistency. Serve with a dollop of whipped cream and a fresh mint leaf.
Twice-Baked Mini Potatoes
After baking the whole potatoes and letting them cool, cut them in half and scoop out the insides to mash up with the other ingredients. Use an electric mixture to make the potatoes fluffy and creamy. Once the filling has the consistency of mashed potatoes, add olive oil, along with minced garlic, fresh herbs, butter, salt, pepper, paprika and Parmesan cheese.
Fill each potato shell with the mixture and put the appetizers in the oven until the tops are a golden brown before serving.
Spicy Red Pepper Dip
In your food processor, combine chopped red pepper, chopped walnuts, chicken broth and a few dashes of cayenne pepper. Add a tablespoon or two of minced garlic and the fresh herbs of your choice to taste, and combine the ingredients again. Serve the dip with toast points or fresh vegetables like celery or carrots.
These are a few appetizer ideas that are sure to impress your guests. They are all easy and low on time. They also give you the ability to tailor the recipe to what you enjoy. Have fun and enjoy the game!
